Bevel: Orbs

We have listed below our opinions on what orbs are and what causes fake orbs. We take thousands of photos each year and review hundreds and after analysis only 1-2% would be considered suspect paranormal.
Bevel: What are Orbs???

Orb is the popular name given to typically circular anomalies appearing in photographs. In Spanish language they're commonly referred as canoplas. In photography and video, orbs appear to be balls, diamonds, or smears of light with an apparent size in the image ranging from a golf ball to a basketball. Orbs sometimes appear to be in motion, leaving a trail behind them.

Orbs are believed to be ghosts in the form of light and are the fist stage of a manifestation. It is said that ghosts prefer the form of an Orb because it takes less energy and that small orbs take up the least amount of energy and apparitions and other fuller shapes take up the most.

Bevel: Dust in the camera

We regularly have a group of investigators photographing the investigation and most train their cameras on the same area. We have seen orbs moving from one position to another all caught on different cameras, so this should eliminate the dust in the lens, on the lens and within the camera body??

When looking for dust in a camera, look for a orb appearing in the same place in every photo
Bevel: Dust in the air

Dust in the air is very easy to see. If you have ever used a light projector in a dark room you will see thousands of tiny particles floating in the air.

One must be very careful when examining a photograph not to jump to the orb conclusion. Dust on a photo is normally very faint and transparent and we have found that orbs tend to be very bright and nearly solid.
Bevel: Flies or spiders

This is a common mistake when looking for orbs.

A tiny fly in a flash can look like an orb but the fly on the photo is normally very faint and transparent.
Bevel: Camera processing errors

The old 35mm cameras had there film developed in different locations and used different film so that is very unlikely.  We use digital cameras to take photos on our investigations and therefore have eliminated this problem of processing.

One theory is that digital cameras could be corrupting the picture when processing the image, but our experience has shown that when errors occur in digital photos the objects tend to be a square pixel not round like an orb?
