Bevel: Scrying

People have been Scrying for many years, from the time of the ancients to the modern day. Scrying is another experiment for the paranormal investigator to use when trying to communicate with spirit. We have had mixed results with this method and often find the “believers” tend to have more success.

Bevel: History of Scrying

Scrying comes from the Anglo Saxon word 'desry, which is taken to mean 'reveal'. It is an ancient form of divination and is one of the earliest forms recorded in history. Which was first used in China in 3000bc.

Over the years different kinds of people have used a variety of different things for scrying eg Druids practiced cloud scrying and gypsies are know for using crystal balls. The most famous person known for scrying was Notradamus, it was said he used a black mirror or a bowl filled with ink for his predictions.

As with all things paranormal it needs to be taken seriously, but with a playful and curious state of mind. Trying too hard is counterproductive
Bevel: How to carry out Scrying

The scryer uses meditation to relax and enters a deep trance like state using the object they have chosen as a focus for their attention. They will then begin to see images or hear things in their own mind. Relating to the person or event which is trying to communicate.

Sometimes what they see is very clear like a film, other times what they see is more abstract and as to be worked out. With different pictures and different colours meaning different things.

Each person will experience different feelings and see different things
Bevel: What to use

Dark water (Hydromancy) is a good way to start, not least because it is easily available and costs nothing. A black bowl filled with water is another method and has the advantage of being safe and suitable for indoor use. Tap water is fine, but spring water will probably work better. Perhaps the best kind of water to use is Moon water: spring, rain or sea water which has been placed in the Moonlight every night for a whole lunar cycle.

Another method is to use a black mirror (Crystallomancy) Spray the back of the glass from a cheap clip frame with a couple of coats of black enamel paint. Make sure the glass is spotlessly clean before you do so as any little marks may spoil your concentration when you come to use it. Once the paint is completely dry, return the glass to the frame. It can be kept hanging on the wall or put away after use, wrapped in a natural material like silk or cotton. The size of the mirror is not important, although if you are just learning the technique, a larger surface area will probably prove easier to use.
